DUI 101

If you were ordered by the court to attend a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) school, you have no choice but to follow. Face it. You need to spend time on it, otherwise don't dream of holding the steering wheel anymore.

You can have worthwhile fun and learning in class especially if the instructor is really smart, dynamic and creative. The class becomes boring if you do not open yourself to it. How could you learn and keep your head busy if you are only physically inside the class but mentally and emotionally out?

The basics of DUI classes include discussions about the DUI laws in your state, the effects of alcohol to your body and how it can impair your driving ability. Expect that the instructor will also discuss the terrible effects of drunk driving by playing videos and/or movies. This might make you recall your own experience. You may not like it but it could actually help you keep a mindset not to experience it again.

Depending on the creativity of the instructor, there might be activities like open forum, sharing and the like so that everybody could share their experience and recovery progress. Interestingly, activities like these could actually make you feel more at ease with the class. These class activities enable you to empathize with your classmates who might be going through the same or even worse trials that you are going through right now. And if this is so, your learning and recovery process could become more meaningful.

DUI classes may also involve periodic checking of your recovery from alcoholism. This is like the application part of the course. Going through this could motivate your self-discipline over alcohol.
So, as you can see, DUI classes are not as horrible as you think.
